Austin’s eclectic East Side is often overlooked, but it’s the fastest growing creative neighborhood in the downtown area. Packed with restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment, when it comes to keeping Austin weird, the East Side has it all.

Our East Side Austin food tour will take you to some of the best places to eat and show you this neighborhood’s passion for sustainable living and community.

First, we’ll stop at Cisco’s Restaurant Bakery & Bar, in business in the same spot for over 60 years. We’ll also dine at Discada, TV-famous from “Somebody Feed Phil” and part of the so-called Taco Mafia, a collection of four taco trucks on the East Side that banded together to feed the community during Texas’s devastating winter storm in 2021.

This Austin food tour also includes a visit to Easy Tiger for their prosciutto baguette, BLT or “Grown Up Grilled Cheese”— not like Mom used to make! And then you can’t miss the sweet spot of the tour, a visit to The Soup Peddler. It’s not just soup, but the freshest all natural juices, smoothies, and sweets in downtown Austin. Find out how the owner went from delivering his tasty homemade concoctions by bicycle to having a six-store Austin franchise.

Our unique pay-as-you-go food tour model lets you enjoy more of what you want for less money, a better value than other Austin food tours. Simply hand the guide $40 cash on your arrival, and your guide will take care of the rest. They’ll pay for the entire group at each of our four stops, minimizing wait time. Paying cash also makes it easy for each restaurant to offer more food, so you’re guaranteed Texas-sized servings. We can guarantee you won’t leave this tour hungry!

East Austin Food Tour reviews

This was a great tour. Sherry was considerate and knowledgeable about Austin history. She has lived in Austin a long time and was able to answer my totally off-topic questions about Austin. I liked that it was in a part of town that is very culturally and historically important to Austin, but also a place where tourists usually don't see.
