Join your local guide as you explore Barcelona’s Old Town and Gothic Quarter, where history, legends, and architectural marvels intertwine to create an unforgettable experience.

Begin your tour in the heart of the city in the Plaça Sant Miquel and immerse yourself in the mythos of Catalonia. Hear tales of gigantic human towers and the legend of St. Jordi, Catalonia’s own version of St. Valentine. You’ll even discover how this beloved legend continues to be celebrated every April 23rd, transforming the city into a vibrant display of roses and books.

Next, make your way to the heart of the Gothic Quarter to the iconic Bishop’s Bridge. This beautiful, neo-Gothic structure is steeped in local lore. Stand beneath the bridge and take a moment to make a wish — a tradition believed to bring good luck.

Continue to the Plaça del Rei, an ancient square where you’ll learn about the dark yet fascinating history that has shaped the city. This site offers a glimpse into the medieval heart of Barcelona, bringing its past vividly to life.

Weaving your way through the streets surrounding the magnificent Cathedral of Barcelona, you’ll admire its Gothic facade as your guide points out hidden details of the gargoyles and more.

Next up is the El Born neighborhood. See the stunning mosaics outside the Palau de la Musica, a modernist masterpiece.

If you’ve upgraded for the flamenco show, you’ll experience another local tradition — a passionate dance show in a tapas bar called El Paraigua (The Umbrella). The main floor is decorated with the original modernist architecture of a 19th-century fan and umbrella shop. Give your name at the door, and you’ll be escorted downstairs to what remains of an 11th-century convent as a thrilling traditional flamenco show is performed for a small crowd of guests. Your ticket includes a free drink.

Reviews

The guide was very kind and funny, he told interesting stories and spoke easy to understand. The trip included a visit to also less known places in Barcelona and the walk was very informative. If you want to learn about the background of Catalonian traditions, this is something I strongly recommend.
