Based in Chicago, Rita is the granddaughter of aviatrix, Jerrie Mock, first woman to pilot an airplane solo around the world. Rita has found inspiration from her grandmother’s life and flight and pursued many of her own dreams in theater, podcasting, novel writing, and cooking up delicious food from around the world. She is a freelance journalist and the author of "The Unofficial Hogwarts for the Holidays," "I Love Trader Joe’s Air Fryer," and forthcoming "I Love Trader Joe’s Cooking for Two" cookbooks, the editor-in-chief of the MockingOwl Roost literary magazine, and director/producer of the performing arts branch of the MockingOwl Creatives. She’s happily married to Matt and faithfully serves the fluffy kitten queen, Lady Stardust.
