On this wine tour, your culinary and wine expert will whisk you away to one of the most beautiful places on earth — Malibu. You’ll learn how this beach town famous for surfers and movie stars was recognized by the AVA (American Viticultural Association), thanks to its rich volcanic soil and cool ocean air. Today, it boasts 50 boutique vineyards, and we’ll visit three of the best ones.
We’ll begin on the Pacific Coast Highway at the award-winning Rosenthal tasting room, where you’ll sample a flight of wine. Known for their Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosenthal was one of the first producers in the area.
Continuing north on the canyon roads, we’ll arrive at Cielo, a $35 million private estate and vineyard. Perched atop the Santa Monica Mountains, Cielo is surrounded by 18 acres of grapes. We’ll begin with a guided walk to a scenic overlook of the property and then to a private tasting of the estate wines, paired with a gourmet selection of meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables, handmade crostini, and fresh bread. Learn about the wine, the region, and history of the area as you dine.
Our final stop is the Cornell tasting room. With peacocks roaming the property, Cornell takes you back to the days of the Old West. Next door to the town’s original post office, Cornell offers wines from all of the local vineyards plus a few relatively unknown Central Coast varietals.
After this tasting, we’ll return via one of the most beautiful sections of Mulholland Highway. Relax in our luxury vehicle and enjoy the views as you return to your hotel or location of choice. You’ve tasted the best of the Malibu Coastal Region — and some of the finest wineries on the West Coast — in just six hours.
