Start your experience at one of the top attractions in Paris: the Louvre! This is the world’s largest museum, featuring sculptures, paintings, antiquities, architecture, and more. Be sure to get there 15 minutes early so you can skip the line and enter right away.

Once inside the museum, you can rent an audio guide in the language of your choice for a few euros or stroll the galleries and just bask in the art. (The Louvre also has free Wi-Fi if you want to use a translation app for the art labels.)

The most famous pieces include the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, The Coronation of Napoleon, and the Great Sphinx of Tanis, inscribed with the names of pharaohs. You won’t be able to see all 35,000 artworks in one day, but you can certainly see these beloved pieces and have plenty of time to explore more of your favorites. You’re free to stay till the museum closes.

Your ticket for the narrated boat tour on the Seine is good for the next 365 days, so you can do this right after the Louvre or on another day during your trip.

This one-hour river cruise begins and ends at the Eiffel Tower and lets you see Paris in a new way — from the water. Your guide will point out landmarks like Notre Dame, the Petit Palais, the Musée d’Orsay, the Conciergerie, and more. Audio guides in English are available.

The guided cruise can be a great way to get “the lay of the land” in Paris since many of the top sights are along the river. Don’t forget to snap priceless photos of Paris by water!
